Some people are born with perfectly sculpted faces. Others need a little help. If you desire sharper cheekbones or a stronger chin, facial implants can help.
Chin and cheek implants give men and women options for facial sculpting when fillers do not work. Dr. Stephen Davis can help you determine which implants will best complement your features and achieve your goals. These can be done on their own or in combination with other procedures, such as eyelid surgery.

Are Chin and Cheek Implants Right for You?
Candidates for chin and cheek implants are individuals who want to change their facial appearance, are in good health and want implants to enhance their features. Reasons to consider getting chin and cheek implants include:
- Extending a recessed chin
- Enlarging a small chin
- Creating more definition in the chin, jaw and cheeks
- Giving the face better balance
- Rounding out cheeks that are hollow due to genetics or aging
- Giving the cheeks a higher and fuller appearance
During Your Chin and Cheek Implants Surgery
Dr. Davis performs chin and cheek implant surgery at The Atrium, a specialty operating facility at Centennial Hospital. General anesthesia is used during the procedure and your vital signs are carefully monitored throughout the process.
Chin Augmentation
For chin surgery, an implant is inserted in front of the jawbone in order to augment the chin or jaw. A small incision is made inside the mouth to allow the implant to be positioned in a pocket just under the skin. An alternate location for this incision is directly below the chin. Chin surgery is commonly performed along with rhinoplasty (nose surgery).
Cheek Augmentation
With cheek augmentation, incisions are made either inside the mouth, through the lower cheek, or directly below the bottom eyelid on the high cheek. Cheek surgery is often performed in conjunction with a facelift procedure.
Both chin and cheek implant procedures normally last from 30 minutes to one hour. The specifics of the surgery will vary based on if you are getting both types of implants or only one, the size and shape of the implants selected, and if you are combining the procedure with other surgeries.
The majority of our clients are able to go home the same day as their surgery, though they will be monitored for several hours first. Transportation will need to be coordinated as you will not be able to drive yourself home.
Chin and Cheek Implants Recovery
After surgery, your face will be fitted with bandages, taped, or otherwise secured in order to speed the recovery process and to reduce swelling. Keeping the head elevated during the initial recovery phase is also important. A liquid diet may be required for a few days, as chewing may be difficult.
Cold compresses and oral medications may be used to help with any facial bruising, swelling and tenderness. Expect to spend a week at home resting and recovering before resuming light activities. Depending on the nature of your job, you may need to take more than a week away from work.
Everyone heals at a different rate, so your healing time may vary. Listen to your body and consult with Dr. Davis before pushing yourself.
Chin and Cheek Implants Results
The difference in your chin and cheeks will be noticeable right away. However, you cannot evaluate the results of surgery until the swelling and bruising subside. Final results may not be visible for several months, at which point most clients will no longer have residual swelling. The substance used for chin and cheek implants is made of durable, solid material that will last for years.

Chin and Cheek Implants FAQs
There is a lot of variation in the cost based on the type and size of the implant and if you are wanting to do both the chin and cheeks or only one. Cheek implants average around $3,000 and chin implants around $2,300 according to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons. These prices are a national average and do not factor in things like anesthesia or facility fees. If you are worried about making chin and cheek implants work with your budget, ask us about our financing options.
Start by browsing websites for local surgeons who are board certified and have experience performing facial implant procedures. If they do, see if their information makes you feel confident in their abilities. Then, schedule consultations with a few different doctors.
During the consultations, see if the doctors make you feel comfortable and empowered in your pursuit of surgery. Make sure their chin or cheek implant before and after photos demonstrate skill and align with your personal vision. Then schedule surgery with the doctor who feels like the best choice.
We will explain what you need to do when we schedule your surgery. Expect us to ask you to do things like getting bloodwork done, stop smoking and avoid certain medications. If you are worried about anything with surgery preparation, call us and get clarification.
