Not all fat can be conquered with diet and exercise. Liposuction is a surgical procedure that allows for targeted removal of stubborn fat cells that just do not respond to healthier lifestyle choices. It is one of the most common plastic surgery procedures, with 250,000 liposuction procedures performed in the U.S. each year.
Clients seek liposuction when they are unhappy with the contouring of their body or because fat cells are hiding their muscle definition. The procedure is often combined with others, such as a tummy tuck or breast lift.

Types of Liposuction
Liposuction isn’t a single procedure, but rather an umbrella term for multiple types of surgeries that remove fat from targeted areas by suctioning it out. There are several different types of liposuction procedures that can be used, including:
Layered Selected Liposuction
We are proud to offer Layered Selected Liposuction to further enhance and refine the already great results we are seeing. By using LSL, we can specifically target the deep fat layer, the superficial fat layer, or both layers. It depends on what you, the patient, needs to achieve the look you desire. Specifically working on the deeper fat layers allows the tissue to drop and contour to the surrounding areas. Fatty locations such as hips, thighs and knees respond very well, while targeting the superficial fat layers allows is to stimulate some tissue tightening. Areas such as the abdominal wall, neck, flanks and buttock creases can respond very nicely to this approach.
Let us help you look great with Layered Selected Liposuction. You have done all the right things: eating well, exercising, and taking care of yourself. Let us help all of that come together with LSL and enjoy your new look!
Tumescent Liposuction
The medicated solution is injected into the targeted area, up to three times as much as the fat meant to be removed. This helps the fat be removed more easily. Once the area is saturated with the solution, the fat is suctioned out. Usually, general anesthesia is not needed.
Ultrasound/Laser-Assisted Liposuction
With these forms of lipo, ultrasound vibrations or lasers are used to liquify the fat cells. Once they are liquified, the cells are vacuumed out.
During your consultation, you and Dr. Davis will discuss your goals and decide on the best course of action to meet your needs.
During Your Liposuction Procedure
Dr. Davis performs liposuction at The Atrium, a specialty operating facility at Centennial Hospital. Depending on the type of lipo selected and the size of the area being targeted, Dr. Davis may select local, regional or general anesthesia.
How long the procedure takes is also varied, but this will be discussed in advance. You will need someone to help you get home after your lipo surgery. Most clients are released a few hours after the procedure.
Liposuction Recovery
You will want to rest for several days after the procedure. During this time, movement will be important, but it should be minimal and not stress the body. You will need to wear compression garments to encourage healing and keep swelling to a minimum.
Although individual recovery times vary, many clients are able to return to work after a few days. Avoid strenuous physical activity for at least 2 weeks. Remember that everyone heals at their own pace and you need to listen to your body and your doctor.
Liposuction Results
You may see a noticeable difference shortly after the procedure. However, swelling will prevent clear results from being seen for about 6 weeks. Final results can take about 6 months to show. Be sure to keep eating healthy and exercising to maintain the results of your lipo procedure.
