Your abdomen, like the rest of your body, changes a lot as you age. From lost muscle tone to sagging skin after childbirth or significant weight loss, many clients look at their stomachs and wish they could make some changes. With a tummy tuck, or abdominoplasty, in Nashville, transformation is possible.
In many cases, tummy tucks are stand-alone surgeries. However, they are frequently combined with liposuction, breast augmentation and other procedures.
To discover if you are a candidate for tummy tuck surgery, contact us and schedule your consultation.
The details of your tummy tuck procedure will vary based on the type of surgery you choose and your individual goals. Whether you need a mini, full, or extended tummy tuck, Dr. Davis will tailor the approach to address excess skin, fat, and muscle laxity. During your consultation, he will evaluate your anatomy and recommend the most effective technique to achieve a smoother, firmer, and more natural-looking abdomen.
For the first 10 days after surgery, you will have a drain in place to remove fluids. Compression garments will be worn to help promote healing and keep you comfortable. Plan to take a week off from all activity so you can stay at home to rest and recover.
While you will need to move to keep your blood flowing and to promote healing, you will need to take it easy. Do not start light exercise until at least 2 weeks post-surgery. Avoid straining the abdominal muscles for at least 3 months. Remember: healing times can vary by individual, so be sure to listen to your body and attend all follow-up appointment with Dr. Davis.
You may be able to notice changes in your abdomen directly after surgery. However, final results will not be visible until bruising and swelling are gone. This can take several months to a year or more, depending on how your body heals.
Good candidates for abdominoplasty should be at a healthy, stable weight, and have concerns such as hanging skin and loose muscles in their abdomen. Anyone who is severely overweight or plans to have children in the future should put off surgery until they have lost weight or are done having kids, as both can alter the results of surgery.
Reasons to consider a tummy tuck include:
● Having issues with muscle tone that exercise has been unable to address● Struggling with excess skin that makes you uncomfortable● Wanting to get rid of stretch marks or scars● Making it easier to buy clothing and swimsuits● Desiring a more youthful look● Wanting to reshape your belly button
According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), tummy tucks cost an average of $6,253. This is strictly the cost of surgery and does not factor in things like anesthesia or facility fees. If you are concerned about making a tummy tuck work for your budget, ask us about our financing options.
There are a few things we always ask that clients do in the leadup to surgery. These include:● Stop smoking for a minimum of 4 weeks● Eat a healthy diet to promote healing● Avoid medications and other substances that thin the blood● Do not eat 8 hours before surgery
Keep in mind that this is not a comprehensive list. We will go over your surgery preparation in full when we schedule your procedure.
