More than 90,000 breast lifts are performed every year in the United States. Also called mastopexy, this surgery is designed to raise the breasts, addressing sagginess and giving them a more youthful appearance.
Women opt for breast lifts in Nashville to improve the look of their breasts, stop rashes from developing where the skin meets and to make it easier to buy bras and other clothes. It is common for the procedure to be combined with breast reduction and breast augmentation.
To determine if you are a candidate for a breast lift, contact us to schedule your consultation.
Your breast lift surgery will be conducted at The Atrium, a specialty operating facility at Centennial Hospital. The procedure takes about two hours and is done under general anesthesia. Most clients will return home the same day as the procedure. You will need to have someone else drive you home.
The recovery period will look different for each patient. However, you should anticipate swelling and bruising, as well as general discomfort. You will need to take a week off from work and other activities so that you can rest and heal. A special bra will be worn to support the breast and encourage the best possible results.
After the first week, you can resume light activity, returning to your usual routine within about 6 weeks. Keep in mind that your healing process may take more or less time than others. Always listen to your body and attend your follow-up appointments with Dr. Davis.
There may be a noticeable change in your breasts directly after surgery. However, this is not the final result. Swelling needs to go down first, which can take 6 months to go away fully.
If you are ever worried about how you are healing, do not hesitate to call the office. Chances are what concerns you is perfectly normal, but we are always here for you.
Strong candidates for a breast lift are those whose breasts sag or appear deflated. Ideally, the client will be finished with having children and no longer be breastfeeding, as both can alter the results of a breast lift. Concerns about things like nipples pointing downward, having nipples below the breast crease and large areolas can also be corrected with a breast lift.
Some reasons women seek out breast lifts include:
● Wanting to look better in low-cut tops and bathing suits● Having uneven breasts● Disliking the point or position of the nipples● Struggling with chaffing and irritation where the skin touches● Dealing with back and neck discomfort● Seeking a more youthful appearance
According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), the average cost of a breast lift is roughly $5,000. This does not take into account other costs, such as anesthesia and facility fees. If the price of surgery is a concern, ask about our financing options.
Some things we ask all clients to do before surgery are:
● Quit smoking at least 4 weeks before surgery● Switch to a healthier diet to promote healing● Avoid all blood-thinning medications● Begin fasting 8 hours before surgery
